Prayer Shawl Ministry

     The Prayer Shawl Ministry currently meets the first Tuesday of each month from 7:00-8:15 PM in the church gathering place.  What started as a small group gathering in February has grown in numbers and vitality.  We offer babysitting so that young mothers may attend.  (Please know that we are part of a larger ecumenical ministry started in 1998 by 2 co-founders, Janet Bistrow and Victoria Galo.  For more information please see: www.shawlministry.com.)  In the giving of these shawls, knitted and crocheted, we hope to offer comfort.  We also hope this ministry will help us celebrate times of joy, and so our first recipient was Isabel Matthews, who celebrated her 100th birthday April 10, 2006.  This shawl was blessed by one of our group, Rev. Ruth Mary Summy, as we held hands, touched the shawl and prayed for the warm embrace of God to be ever present in the wearing of this shawl.     

           We encourage accomplished knitters and crocheters and those who wish to learn, to join us.  We have young members and young-at-heart members.  We'll always keep an empty chair for those who participate at home but aren't able to join us for the meetings.  The blessings abound.  Thanks be to God.
